Privacy Policy

This policy covers BALLKNW and the Gaffa game on this site (together, "the site", "we", "us"). It explains what data is collected when you visit, and the choices you have.

No accounts, no personal data collection

The site has no sign-up, no login and no user accounts. We don't ask for your name, email address or any other personal information to play. Your in-progress game state (formation, picks, settings) is stored only in your browser's local storage and never sent to us.

Cookies and the consent banner

On your first visit you'll see a banner asking you to choose Accept all or Essential only. That choice is itself stored in your browser's local storage (key bk_consent) so we can remember it — this is the only "essential" storage the site uses. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page.

Analytics

If you accept all cookies, we use Google Analytics and PostHog to understand which features and pages are used, so we can improve the games. This is aggregate usage data (e.g. which game was opened, which formation was picked, whether a game was completed) — not anything that identifies you personally.

Google Analytics runs in Google's consent mode. Until you choose "Accept all" — and permanently, if you choose "Essential only" — it is not allowed to store anything on your device, and reports your visit only as an anonymous, cookieless page count that cannot be tied back to you or followed between visits.

We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views regardless of your choice. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device at all, so there is nothing for the banner to gate: it cannot identify you or follow you between visits.

Advertising

If you accept all cookies, the site may show ads in the slots marked "Advertisement", served by our ad network partners (currently Adsterra). These networks and their partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other sites. If you choose "Essential only", no ad or analytics cookies are set and no ad slot loads a network script.

Data from third parties

Player names, squads and ratings used in-game are drawn from public football datasets, including the Fjelstul World Cup Database (CC-BY-SA 4.0). These are historical sporting records, not personal data about you.

Children's privacy

The site is general-audience football trivia content and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
